Scientists explore ant microbiota in search of new drugs


Dr Monica Tallarico Pupo, Associate professor of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, Brazil, coordinates research project in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. / FAPESP.

The project includes the participation of Dr. Jon Clardy (Harvard University) and aims to exploit existing microbiota in the bodies of Brazilian ants in search of natural molecules that could lead to new drugs.
