HISTORY<\/strong><\/h4>\n
The Graduate Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeir\u00e3o Preto (FCFRP-USP), was approved at a meeting of the CAPES Scientific Technical Council in March 2005, recommended with grade 4.<\/div>\n
This Graduate Program is a result of the transformation of the Clinical Analysis Concentration Area of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of FCFRP-USP, operating since 1988, as a Graduate Course in Drugs and Medicines.<\/div>\n
Most of the supervisors of the Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy have been working in an articulated manner since 1992, initially in the Specialization Course in Clinical Analysis (Lato-sensu Graduation Program) at FCFRP-USP. In 2002, this group of supervisors stimulated the restructuring of the concentration areas of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with the creation of the Clinical Analysis Concentration Area, allowing the DACTB (Department of Clinical, Toxicological and Bromatological Analysis) professors to join as supervisors in the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Unit and the formation of new research groups.<\/div>\n
As a result of the institutional self-assessment carried out during 2003 and 2004, the Congregation of the School determined, among its goals for the Graduate Program, the transformation of two concentration areas into two new Graduate Programs, maintained by the Graduate Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This goal was achieved, and the Clinical Analysis Concentration Area was transformed into a Graduate Program in Biosciences applied to Pharmacy. The approval by the USP Graduate Council took place on June 30, 2004.<\/div>\n
The Graduate Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy was created with the aim of improving the profile of the supervisors as well as the insertion of other researchers and professors of the Unit. Until February 2004, the Clinical Analysis concentration Area of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of our Unit was centered on research lines that no longer reflected the supervisors’ projects, thus, noting the need to promote interdisciplinarity between different sub-areas of action of the pharmaceutical professional and related areas, whose integrated knowledge is very important for the scientific and technological domain. In addition, the Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy aims at a greater extent in the training of human resources for the scientific development of the Pharmaceutical professional. Due to the large number of higher education institutions open in recent years and the expansion of laboratories and areas of research in our region and in the country in general, the future Masters and PhDs are expected to be quickly absorbed by the labor market.<\/div>\n
With the creation of the Graduate Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy, all students who were enrolled in the Clinical Analysis Concentration Area were transferred to the only Concentration Area that has the same name as the Program. Thereby, the Program began with 33 students enrolled in the Master’s Degree and 19 in the Doctorate. In 2017, the Graduate Program in Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy was recommended and recognized by the National Council of Education, with grade 6 in CAPES.<\/div>\n
In 2018, CAPES approved and ratified the change in the name of the Biosciences Program Applied to Pharmacy to \u201cBiosciences and Biotechnology\u201d, with the creation of two new concentration areas: I- Immunology and Physiopathology and II- Bioagents and Biotechnology applied to Pharmacy. The change process in the PPG (Graduate Program) initiated in 2015 to meet changes and updates within the Pharmacy area where the Program is inserted. Until September 2023, 197 Masters and 132 PhDs have been graduated.<\/div>\n
Currently, the Program has 18 Master\u2019s Degree and 36 Doctorate students distributed among the 28 supervisors of the Program. The selection process for new applicants occurs every six months and meets local, regional, national, and international demand, since we receive applicants from different states of Brazil and other countries.<\/div>\n

OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/h4>\n
The objective of the Program is the graduation of qualified human resources in the broad area of Biosciences and Biotechnology, within the great area of Pharmacy, with training in different methods implicit to the scope of the theme, with solid formation and critical scientific vision, to perform teaching activities, basic\/applied research in association with biotechnological development that promotes the generation of knowledge, new products and processes, aiming, ultimately, at the well-being of all.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>
