– At the Laboratory of Immunology and Epigenetics we investigate how epigenetic alterations due to chronic infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV (respectively, causative agents of tuberculosis and AIDS), act in the programming of the cells of the innate immune system. The laboratory is focused on the identification of immune and epigenetic biomarkers of different clinical presentations of tuberculosis and HIV infection, through functional and phenotypic characterization of Natural Killer cells, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils.
